Coughing is one of the most common reasons that people seek medical advice.7 It’s triggered by irritation in the airways, which can be caused by an underlying condition like a cold or respiratory infection.7 A wet (productive) cough is a type of cough caused by too much mucus in your airways.8

What is mucus? Mucus is a slippery liquid substance produced by your body. When it’s produced in normal amounts, it helps to keep your tissues hydrated and to prevent infection.9 However, the mucus your body produces when you’re sick is thicker and stickier than normal.9 Large amounts of this sticky stuff can clog up your airways and make you cough.8,9

ACC® contains an active ingredient called acetylcysteine (uh-see-tuhl-sisteen).1,2,10 This ingredient breaks down the bonds that hold thick, sticky mucus together, so the mucus becomes thinner.1,2,5,6 This makes it easier for you to cough it out and clear your airways, giving you the relief that you need.1-3

Acetylcysteine is absorbed quickly, which means ACC® gets to work fast to offer relief from coughs.4

Did you know? Clearing excess phlegm from your lungs can also prevent a more serious infection from developing there.11

ACC® is a type of medication known as a mucolytic.1,2,4,6 This means ACC® breaks down mucus to make it easier to clear out of your chest.1-3 It’s also a mucoregulator, which means it helps to regulate (control) mucus secretion.4
